Chuck Phelan
Chuck Phelan has been coaching and playing the game he loves on Long Island for over 35 years. He was a division 1 goalkeeper in college who continued his passion for playing on many semi-pro teams on Long Island and in the city. He continues to play today in the LISFL and in many indoor leagues across the Island. Chuck has been teaching in the Long Island public school system now for almost 20 years. He brings an educational approach to all of his training sessions. Having this education background and ability to motivate and interact with children helps Chuck make the most of his time with his clients. Sessions are very technical with a great deal of video analysis that helps to break down the finer components of the position. This detailed approach has proven to help his keepers make tremendous progress in short periods of time. He is passionate about teaching the position from the ground up; developing a strong, balanced, and explosive foundation that keepers can use to cover more ground in net. He builds strength and agility training into his sessions for HS and College keepers so they become more explosive in goal and avoid common injuries that goalkeepers too often encounter.
Chuck was a successful Varsity coach on Long Island before moving to the college ranks. He served as the Mens and Womens goalkeeper coaches for Molloy College most recently. He now coordinates all of the training for LIGKT in both Nassau and Queens and is the primary trainer for southern Nassau County.
Chuck is a licensed and insured GK coach. Along with his 20 years of coaching the position at various levels he has his NSCAA goalkeeper licenses and is first aid and CPR certified.
